Damon Heta won last Players Championship event before the PDC World Cup of Darts and is ready to defend the title with Simon Whitlock in Frankfurt!
There were some huge surprises in the first round of Players Championship 14, Gerwyn Price lost to Mickey Mansell, Peter Wright lost to Jarred Cole after very bad performance. Also Dave Chisnall, Chris Dobey or Dimitri van den Bergh played only one match. Josh Rock hit a perfect leg in his match with Jurjen van der Velde and won 6-5.
However, it did not end and the second round was the final one for Michael Smith, Rob Cross, Josh Rock or Daryl Gurney. Superchin lost to Bradley Brooks who started his comeback from 3-5 with fantastic nine-darter!
The Heat started his way to victory with a close win over Owen Roelofs. He defeated Vladimir Andersen 6-2 in the second round and whitewashed Kleermaker in next round having average 106,09! Australian Number One won also against Bradley Brooks and once again did not even lose leg in a match against Mickey Mansell.
Heta won 7-4 against Christan Kist in semi-finals and Luke Woodhouse defeated Mensur Suljović 7-2 to secure his first ever PDC final!
The final was one-man-show of Damon Heta who did not even have to play his best darts and still managed to win 8-2.
Heta is now World Nr. 13 thanks to this title and the second man of ProTour Order of Merit.
