Danny Lauby secures his spot in the Final Stage of Q-School

 


PDC Q-School started on Monday. The British one is played in Milton Keynes while the European one is played in Kalkar, Germany. First stage last three days with the best eight of every day automatically securing their place in the Final stage.

There are 327 players in Milton Keynes and 480 players are trying to get professional status in Germany. However, british Q-School is usually slightly better which is also confirmed by the average of the first day - 79.38 against 74.17 in Kalkar.

Darts Legend, John Part lost in L128 against Alec Small and also former Tour Card Holders Mark Durbridge, Richard North or Mark McGeeney lost their matches in the same round. One of the biggest favourites, Robert Thornton, lost one round sooner. Queen of the Pally, Fallon Sherrock lost against Kai Fan Leung in L64 despite averiging more than 90.

One of the best players of the day and also one of the favourites, Danny Lauby from United States lost only a few legs in the first round, but the final one was very tough battle against Kevin Thomas. However, Lauby won 5-4 and secured his place in the Final Stage. Also another well known player, Adam Hunt made it through the first day.

Current WDF World Champion, Andy Baetens, lost his second match of the day against Vitezslav Sedlak. Sedlak who also one Challenge Tour tournament this year was among the eight European players progressing to the Final Stage. Sedlak is not the only Czech player to secure his Final Stage spot - Filip Sebesta won also six matches.

Jeffrey de Graaf or Marko Kantele, who played in Ally Pally this year lost in their opening matches, while another Swedish player made it through - Anton Ostlund.

Stefan Bellmont is the best known name in the list of European players progressing to the Final Stage. Swiss-man played some fantastic darts on Monday and is for sure one of the favourites for the professional status. His fellow countryman Felix Schiertz was also among the best eight.
